Miriam Habtesellasie is a contributing writer at The Caribou. As a digital lifestyle journalist with over seven years' experience, she has written for a variety of TI Media titles, including Woman, Woman’s Own and Woman & Home.
She loves nothing more than a stint abroad, and has upped sticks on more than on occasion in search of adventure. Post-A Levels, she spent several months Interailing trip around Europe with a group of friends (despite being fresh out of sixth form there was a surprisingly detailed and civilised itinerary).
There was also the one-month post-degree visit to the South of Spain that turned into a two-and-a-half-years stay, a one-month shoestring tour of America’s East Coast (from the quaintness of Martha’s Vineyard to the bayous and bars of New Orleans), and a two-month trip around South East Asia taking in Laos, Thailand and Vietnam (a trip idea she cooked up on whim on New Year’s Eve).
Her top travel tips include visiting Tanzania for a sun, sea and safari break at incredible rates, and staying close to - rather than in - major cities to avoid the crowds, such as Mestre for visits to Venice.
